One of the annual highlights of the St George Cricket Calendar is the Bill O'Reilly Oration. We are pleased to confirm details of this years details.
The Annual O’Reilly Oration will be held on Friday 21 September. The venue will again be the Booth/Saunders Pavilion at Hurstville Oval. Proceedings will commence on the Oval at 12 noon with drinks, followed by a three course lunch from 12.30pm.
We are pleased to advise that the highly regarded sports journalist, Greg Growden, has accepted the invitation to deliver this year’s address. Greg started his career working with Bill when he was enthralling Australians with his highly respected views on cricket. There is no doubt Greg will provide a thoughtful and interesting perspective on ‘Tiger’s’ career with personal anecdotes and reflections.
As is the tradition of this function we will also have a panel discussion moderated by Murray Bennett. On this occasion he’ll be joined by a panel of fast bowlers – St George Team of the Century member, Steve Bernard, former Australian opening bowler, Geoff Lawson and former Kiwi international Richard Collinge. This is always a popular component of the function and fits well with the O’Reilly philosophy of forthright thinking.
The cost of this year’s O’Reilly Oration remains at $165 per person or a table of ten at $1650 (GST inclusive) with bookings for this function via email by 13 September to firstname.lastname@example.org. You are also very welcome to ring me direct on 0407 291 872.
The O’Reilly Oration has become the traditional start of the cricket season at St George DCC at our beautiful home ground, Hurstville Oval. With Greg Growden delivering this year’s Oration it will again be a function for your diary. We hope you and your friends are able to join us.
