St George DCC President Kevin Greene will once again be leading a Charity Walk on behalf of St George District Cricket Club, with all funds going to the St George Sutherland Medical Research Foundation (SSMRF). This is the 5th year that SSMRF has been our charity partner. This local charity is now considered one of the leading medical research centres in Australia and has been credited with a number of international breakthroughs. Our Club is proud to be associated with and support their important, indeed vital work.
As well as raising funds the Walk also highlights to our young players and the community that while we are a sporting organisation we also recognise our community responsibility. While our focus as a Club is on developing our young players' cricket skills we also have a role in setting a good example in developing them as community members.
This year's Walk is on Saturday 15 December and will cover roughly 20 kms across the Georges River Council area, concluding at Hurstville Oval in the lunch break of the 1st Grade match against Sutherland, our Annual Norm O'Neill Trophy match.
