Record Broken Twice in Two Months
Date of Event St George Cricket Club: Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:12PM

On January 12th Kurtis Patterson scored 167 not out in the Rd 9 ODI match against Wests. By doing this he beat the St George DCC ODI record set in 2011-12 of 162 by NSW teammate Moises Henriques.

Last Saturday, March 5th Nicholas Stapleton set a new ODI benchmark by scoring 170 not out in the Round 15 match against Mosman.

The Saturday before Blake Macdonald scored a match winning 159 not out to bring the Saints a crucial victory inside the required 47 overs but technically the game was a 2 day game, just rain affected.

Thanks to statistician Adam Moorhouse here are the Top 9 ODI centuries for St George in Limited Over games -

170* Nicholas L Stapleton (18/19)

167* Kurtis R Patterson (18/19)

162 Moises C Henrques (11/12)

148* Geoff S Milliken (92/93)

133 Luke W Bartier (18/19)

132* Matthew Hopkins (17/18)

132 Moises C Henriques (08/09)

126* Scott M Thompson (00/01)

122 Blake D Macdonald (17/18)

Amazingly 5 of the top 9 have been produced in the last 2 seasons.

Stapleton's innings of 170* saw him bat through the entire innings as he faced 166 balls. He recovered from a nasty blow to the Adams Apple in producing another Hurstville Oval Masterclass. He then bowled the final over of the game to help the Saints seal the victory in a nailbiter. Stapleton's maiden first grade century for St George was scored in the same round the season before. He has now scored 4 centuries after posting scores of 108 and 103 in his first two innings this season.

Amazingly St George moved from 14th to 7th position over the last month but sadly only the top 6 contest the finals. This meant that Stapleton finished the season with an amazing 986 runs at 51.9 across all formats.

Congrats to Nicholas Stapleton on this fantastic achievement.
