Vale Grahame Windley

We regret to inform of the passing of Grahame Windley, St George DCC First Grade player No.241, aged 74.

 


Grahame made his First Grade debut for Western Suburbs in 1967 against Bankstown. He transferred to St George in the 72-73 season where he played 5 First Grade matches scoring 98 runs at 24.5 with a top score of 45. He also played 2 Rothmans Cup First Grade 1 Day games and also had 9 innings in Second Grade scoring 272 runs at 27.2 with a highest score of 58, his highest for the club. In 73-74 Grahame also captained a number of games in Second Grade.

 


He played a further 3 seasons for the club mainly in Second Grade and finished with 1094 runs in all grades for St George. He also claimed 4 wickets.

 


Grahame also played 1st Grade Baseball with Petersham.

 


Grahame remained a firm supporter of the club in the years after finishing regularly attending club functions. His son David played Junior cricket for Penshurst West as well as a few seasons with St George.
